State Reporting

Every state accepts a standard. Heronix implements them.

State departments of education take data through standard interchange formats. Heronix Suite ships working clients for Ed-Fi, SIF 3.x, CEDS-aligned data, and flat-file export, each with its own administrative screen. Your state's specifics are configuration inside the product, included with the license.

The Industry Problem

State reporting is usually sold as a professional services engagement: scoped separately, billed separately, delivered on the vendor's timeline.

Each state's requirements differ, but the formats the data flows through do not. When a system implements the standard interchange formats, state-specific requirements become configuration rather than a custom development project.

The Heronix Approach

Implement the standards. Make the rest configuration.

Standard Interchange Formats

Working Ed-Fi and SIF 3.x clients, CEDS-aligned data, and flat-file export, each with its own administrative screen. These are the formats state departments of education actually accept.

Built to FERPA Requirements

Data privacy controls built to meet FERPA requirements. Audit logging, access controls, and data retention policies included.

Configuration, Not Custom Development

Per-state configuration entries, state student identifier storage, funding snapshots, and a reporting calendar are part of the product. Setting them up is part of deployment, not a separately billed project.

What's in the reporting framework

Every component below is implemented in the Suite, with an administrative screen

Ed-Fi client with a submission service and administrative screen
SIF 3.x client with zone configuration and a submission service
CEDS-aligned data for federal reporting vocabulary
Flat-file export for states that take delimited submissions
OneRoster 1.2 import and serve, by CSV or REST
Funding snapshots for count-day and enrollment-driven funding
Reporting calendar for state submission deadlines
Per-state configuration storage for codes, scales, and formats
State student identifier storage alongside district IDs
CRDC extract for federal civil-rights data collection

Configured to your state during deployment

These are settings inside the product, not a professional services engagement

State Attendance Codes

Absence and tardy codes matching your state's definitions and reporting requirements.

Enrollment Status Codes

Entry, withdrawal, and transfer codes per your state's student information system requirements.

Grade Scale Configuration

GPA calculations and grade scales matching state and district policies.

Transcript Output

GPA and transcript records configured to state requirements and college application standards.

State Reporting Outputs

Enrollment, graduation-rate, and demographic reporting flow through the Ed-Fi, SIF, and flat-file clients.

Data Export Formats

SIF, Ed-Fi, CEDS, and flat-file data exchange, the formats state systems accept.

Graduation Requirements

Credit requirements and course catalogs aligned with state graduation standards.

Special Education Codes

Disability categories, service types, and placement codes per federal and state guidelines.

Configuration is included

When you deploy Heronix, state configuration happens inside the product's administrative screens, with our help during onboarding, at no additional professional services fee. Codes, scales, formats, and submission settings are product settings, not billable custom work.

We will not promise a deployment timeline we have not yet proven in a district. What we promise is simpler: state reporting is part of the product you already bought, not something you are sold twice.
