Your screens. Your content. Your server.
Show announcements, menus, videos and promotions on the TVs you already own, from a server in your own building. No monthly fees, no cloud account, and no internet connection required.
Perpetual license · 200 screens included · Windows, Linux and Raspberry Pi
Signage you buy once
Most digital signage is rented: a fee for every screen, every month, for as long as you use it, with your content stored on someone else's servers.
Heronix Signage is software you own. You pay once, install it on a computer you control, and it keeps running, with no subscription, renewals or per-screen bill.
$549, once
One license covers up to 200 screens. Need more? Add 100 screens at a time.
Nothing leaves your building
No telemetry, analytics, update checks, cloud services or tunnels. It works with the internet unplugged.
The TVs you already have
Samsung, LG, Fire TV and Android TV use their built-in web browser. There's no app to install and no player box to buy.
Built for
Schools and districts
Morning announcements, lunch menus, bell schedules that highlight the current period, countdowns to events, and emergency alerts on every screen in about a second. A district office runs the central server and each school runs its own hub.
Medical and dental offices
Waiting-room videos, office hours, holiday closures, guest Wi-Fi QR codes and health information, managed from the front desk.
Businesses and multi-location organizations
Promotions, menus, visitor welcomes, meeting schedules and safety reminders. Company-wide content goes out from one place, and each location adds its own local ads in between.
Made for public-facing content
Signage shows what you'd put on a bulletin board: announcements, ads, menus, schedules and videos made to be seen by anyone in the room.
Heronix Signage doesn't need any student, patient or customer records to do its job. It stores your media, your channels, your screens, and named accounts for the staff who manage them. That keeps it simple to approve and simple to run.
Everything you need to run your screens
Content
- Pictures and videos (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4, WebM) with drag-and-drop uploads up to 4 GB per file
- Text slides, scrolling tickers and an on-screen clock
- Countdowns, QR codes, bell schedules and agendas that highlight what's happening now
- 12 ready-made templates for schools and offices: announcements, lunch menu, events, visitor welcome, guest Wi-Fi, holiday hours and more
- Watched folders: point it at a folder or network share, and new pictures and videos appear on screen automatically
- Pages from your own network, such as an intranet dashboard
Scheduling
- Drag-and-drop playing order
- Schedule any item by date range, day of the week and time of day, including overnight windows
- Split-screen layouts: a main area with a side panel or bottom strip playing something else
- Mix one channel into another, for example a local notice after every few company items
Screens
- Pair a TV with a code. Nothing is typed into the TV after the first visit, and there are no guessable links.
- Switch what a screen plays in one click, or a whole group at once
- Health monitoring flags any screen that stops checking in
- Screens keep playing through network outages and pick up changes when they reconnect
Reports
- Proof of play: what played, where, and for how long, per item and per screen, with CSV export
- A dashboard with screens online, plays per day, screen uptime, most-shown items and storage
Emergency alerts on every screen in about a second
Lockdown, Shelter in place, Evacuate, Severe weather, a custom message, and All clear. Each uses fixed high-contrast colors with no flashing, and you can edit the wording.
- Send to every screen, chosen locations, screen groups, single screens, or whole sites
- Video pauses underneath, and the alert stays up through reloads until it's cleared or ends on its own
- Only owners and designated alert operators can send, always through a confirmation step, and every send and clear is logged
- Alerts never depend on the license. If a license is missing or expired, alerts and playback keep working.
Emergency alerts supplement, and do not replace, your official emergency notification systems and procedures.
One central server. Every location.
Run one central server for your organization, and a small hub at each other building: an always-on PC or a Raspberry Pi.
- Central holds the organization's content and decides which channels each site receives.
- Each hub keeps its own copy, adds that site's local items, and serves the TVs in its building.
- Outages stay local. If the link to central goes down, every site keeps playing. If one building loses power, only that building is affected.
- No internet path required. Sites connect to central over your own network or VPN. A site with no network connection at all can receive encrypted content on a USB stick.
- One license for the whole organization. Screens at every site count toward central's license, so there's no separate purchase per building.
- Emergency alerts sent from central reach every connected site within seconds.
Security without the paperwork
- Named accounts with roles: Owner, Editor, Alert operator and Viewer. Editors can be limited to chosen channels, and owners can require approval before an editor's changes go live.
- Two-step sign-in with an authenticator app, required for owners. Password recovery never relies on email.
- Tamper-evident audit log of every sign-in, change, alert, pairing and backup, with integrity checks you can run on demand.
- Encrypted secrets and backups, HTTPS for the console, and signed, certificate-pinned links between central and sites.
- Automatic nightly backups to another drive, with a 3-2-1 checklist on the dashboard.
How it works
1. Install
Run the installer on an always-on Windows 10/11 PC, a Linux server or a Raspberry Pi. Everything it needs is in the package, Java included, and nothing is downloaded.
2. Activate
Paste your license key. Activation happens offline, with no account or phone-home.
3. Pair your TVs
Open the player address in each TV's browser, type the code it shows into the console, and pick what it plays.
4. Publish
Upload your media, build channels, and schedule them. Screens update on their own.

Talk to usExample: a district with 350 screens buys one base license plus two expansion keys: 400 screens for $947, paid once.
The license never stops your screens or alerts. If it's missing or expired, playback and emergency alerts continue; only managing content waits for a valid key. Reaching your screen limit only blocks pairing new screens.
What you'll need
| Server | An always-on computer: Windows 10/11, 64-bit Linux with systemd, or a Raspberry Pi 4/5 (2 GB+, 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS). Java is included. |
|---|---|
| Larger organizations | Optional PostgreSQL database instead of the built-in one. |
| Screens | Smart TVs with a web browser (Samsung, LG), or Fire TV / Google TV / Android TV sticks. Roku TVs have no browser, so add an inexpensive streaming stick. |
| Network | Screens on the same network as their server. Sites reach central over your network or VPN, or by USB stick. |
| Video | MP4 (H.264, 1080p) plays most reliably on TVs. Our guide shows how to convert anything else with free tools. |
Questions
Is there really no monthly fee?
Yes. You pay once for the license and use it as long as you like. Additional screens are a one-time expansion key.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Heronix Signage runs entirely on your own network. Installation, activation, content updates and multi-site sync all work without the internet.
Does Heronix see our content or our screens?
No. The software sends nothing to Heronix or anyone else: no telemetry, analytics or update checks. The console and TVs load only files from your own server.
What counts as a screen?
Each paired TV or display counts as one screen. The base license covers 200 across your whole organization, including every site hub.
What happens if we go over 200 screens?
New screens can't be paired until you add an expansion key. Screens already set up keep playing.
Do we need a license for each building?
No. One license on your central server covers every site hub. Each hub's screens count toward that one license.
Which TVs work?
Samsung and LG smart TVs through their built-in browser, and Fire TV, Google TV and Android TV devices. Roku TVs have no web browser, so plug in an inexpensive Fire TV or Google TV stick. Our TV setup guide covers the settings for each brand.
What happens if the network or power goes out?
Screens keep playing what they have. With several sites, an outage at one building or at central doesn't affect the others, and everything catches up when the connection returns.
Can different staff manage different screens?
Yes. Editors can be limited to chosen channels, owners can require approval of editors' changes, and alert operators can send emergency alerts without touching content.
Is it suitable for schools and medical offices?
It's built for public-facing content (announcements, menus, ads, schedules and videos) and doesn't need student, patient or customer records to work. If you choose to display information about people, your own policies for that information apply.
Can we try it first?
Yes. The 90-day evaluation runs on one Windows PC with up to 25 screens and includes everything except multi-site (central and hubs) and automatic backups. Use sample content only; at day 90 it erases itself and locks. The download is coming to Heronix accounts soon; talk to us in the meantime.
